Manuel A. Monge-Mata
(b. 1988)
M. Monge-Mata grew up in Paraíso, Cartago, Costa Rica, since he was a child; he started his musical studies in violin with several music teachers. During high school, he started to study classical guitar. He received his bachelor’s degree in Music Education at the University of Costa Rica, where he studied at the same time, french horn and composition. In Costa Rica, he worked as an instrument teacher, string orchestra conductor, professor of chamber ensembles, choral conductor, and arranger for several music academies and Costa Rican folk dancers groups. At MTSU, he earned his master’s degree in Music with a specialization in conducting and was a graduate teaching assistant in the Band area under the supervision of Dr. Reed Thomas.
