Alonso Malik Pirio

Alonso Malik Pirio, three-time Grammy-nominated artist, grew up listening to and writing music from a wide variety of styles, including jazz, R&B, rock, Afro-Cuban, funk, and hip-hop. Classically trained, he holds a degree from UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music, and has since formed a career as a film composer, performer, music director, orchestrator, and educator.

He wrote the score to films, such as HFPA Award-winner, Pendulum (2020), Origin (2018)—which premiered at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood—as well as for several other animated and live-action shorts, such as Big Bark (2020), and Herald of Blue (2020).

A multi-instrumentalist, Alonso has performed in dozens of pit orchestras, music directed cabaret shows, and is a three-time Grammy-nominated choral recording artist, for singing on The Passion of Yeshua. He has appeared in concert with artists including Kenny Burrell, Hila Plitmann, Eliseo Roman, Curt Mega, J’Nai Bridges, and Doreen Montalvo.

He is an avid hiker and traveler who lives and works in his native Los Angeles.
